requirements to getting your Drivers License (AGE 18+)

• Obtain a Washington ID or Pre-Apply for a WA State ID online to receive your License number (ex:WDL123ABC456)

• Pass the Knowledge Test with at least 80%

• (optional) Obtain a WA Instruction Permit to practice your driving skills on the road 

• Pass the Drive Test with at least 80% 

• Pay required fees to the Department of Licensing

requirements to getting your (Intermediate) Drivers License 

for teens (AGEs 15-18)

• A completed traffic safety education course - including at least 30 hours of classroom instruction, six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, and one hour of in-car observation time. Click here to learn more about our teen course here! 

• 16 years old and have held the instruction permit for at least 6 months

• 40 hours of behind the wheel driving practice during daylight, 10 hours of behind the wheel driving practice at nighttime. Have a licensed driver with at least 5 years of driving experience. 

• Pass the Knowledge test with a score of at least 80%

• Pass the Drive Test with a score of at least 80%

• Pay the required fees to the Department of Licensing
